Dallas Center-Grimes is gearing up for another football season which is just a week away.

The Mustangs will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing two win 2022 season, and one player they’ll look for to hold down the defense will be senior linebacker Dayne Mauk. In the 2022 season, he led the team in total tackles with 86 and in solo tackles with 74. He also added six sacks and 14 tackles of loss last season. Mauk tells Raccoon Valley Radio his goals are pretty simple.

“Just do the best for my teammates and just do my best so we can win more football games.”

Mauk says the team has been using last year’s season as an incentive to work harder. He mentions that this team has high expectations this season.

“I say we use (the 2022 season) as a motivator because we were way better than that ,and I think we can flip that and go (7-2).”

Dallas Center-Grimes will touch the field with another opponent at 7pm today for a scrimmage against Ankeny Centennial.
