The Greene County School Board met Wednesday in regular session.
Under old business, the Board approved the 2023-24 employee handbook with four minor changes, and under new business, the Board also approved the 2023-24 student and parent handbooks for all three school buildings, the bus drivers, and coaches and directors handbooks as presented. Activities Director Dave Wright added that the start date for bowling is November 6th, with the first competitions to begin on November 20th, and that information will still need to be added to the coaches handbook.
The Board also approved a resolution ordering an election on November 7th to continue the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) for the next ten years. Superintendent Brett Abbotts noted that these funds are based on property taxes and are used for building improvements, transportation and technology purchases. Additionally, the Board approved six school driving permits, seven total fundraiser requests, a tele-mental health service agreement for $15,000 with Classroom Clinic, and the 2022-23 board treasurer’s report.
The Board approved the first reading for 11 new board policies and five updated policies as presented, with all of the new policies due to new bills that went into law on July 1st. Finally, the Board took no action for the appointment of a Level I Investigator because Superintendent Abbotts chose to remain in that position.
