The regular seasons for Greene County in the sports of volleyball, football, and cross-country aren’t quite here yet, but there are scrimmages in two of the three sports planned for later this week.

Football will host Ogden on Friday at Linduska Field in Jefferson and this year the scrimmage is being combined with The Fall Sports Pep Rally hosted by Greene County Activities Booster Club, and it’s all at Linduska Field. At 5 p.m., the Pep Rally begins with cheerleaders, volleyball, and cross-country being introduced also with the band and color guard. A meal for a fee will be served starting at 5:30 p.m., and the football scrimmage starts at 6 o’clock with two quarters of the varsity teams playing before they take a break. During the break, football players and coaches will be introduced. After the break, JV and JV reserve players will scrimmage with Ogden.

On Saturday, Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams will go to Rockwell City for a scrimmage at South Central Calhoun Middle School starting at 9 a.m. Volleyball is the first of the three Greene County sports to hold competition that counts on the season record. The Rams go to Dallas Center-Grimes on Aug. 22 for a quadrangular with DC-G, Ballard (Huxley), and Mason City.
