The public is invited to an event in Jefferson to start off the school year in a positive way.

The Greene County Activities Booster Club is hosting a Community Pep Rally on Friday at 5pm at Linduska Field. Greene County School District Activities Director Dave Wright encourages everyone to come out and see the students that participate in the fall activities and sports programs, including cross country, volleyball, football, cheerleaders and the band will also perform.

“And this is just an opportunity (for) the community to kind of be introduced to them if they don’t already know. And then maybe when you read about them in the sports page or on Raccoon Valley Radio’s website or hear about them on the radio you kind of can put that face with the name. Our kids appreciate people coming out and supporting them as well, and just the community support is kind of the hub, hopefully. We want our school district and our school activities to be an important part of our community, all of the communities that are involved in the Greene County school system.”

Wright adds the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association will be grilling hamburgers and serving a meal for a free-will donation. Fans are also encouraged to bring a sports drink as their admission to the event and the football scrimmage that will take place between the Greene County Rams and the Ogden Bulldogs at 6pm.
