The Perry Chamber of Commerce has a special farmers market theme this week.

The Chamber will hold a Back to School Night at their Downtown Farmers Market on 2nd Street from 4 to 7pm on Thursday. Pasutti explains they will ask those attending the market to bring school supplies to donate and ensure that each student in the area schools has an easy transition back to the classroom. Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio where people can find school supplies locally.

“Definitely an opportunity to shop local for back to school supplies. Ben’s Five and Dime, right when you walk in, has a great selection, a great presentation. She even has all of the school lists as well. So you can pop in there even if you don’t know what you need or don’t know what someone else might need, right when you walk in the door. That would be a great opportunity to shop local for back to school.”

The Perry Community School District will have several events including honoring the teacher of the year in the district, recognizing new teachers, a band performance and people can have popsicles with the principles. Des Moines Area Community College and St. Patrick’s Catholic School representatives will also be there spreading information and back to school spirit.
