A popular series of programs is returning for the 2023-24 school year in Greene County.
Greene County ISU Extension and the Greene County Career Academy are once again offering Career Exploration Camps for youth. The camps are designed to give first through eighth graders hands-on learning experiences using career pathways. The first set of camps begins in September with culinary, along with computer science, construction, welding, agriculture, health care, education and business. The camps will happen on the first and third Thursdays of each month from September through next April. The first Thursday is for 1st-3rd grades and the third Thursday is for 4th-8th from 4-5:30pm at the Career Academy.
Some things to note include a child may only sign up for four camps at this time, if a child did a camp last year, they can do it again this year with some class programs being similar to last year. Kids that participated in a culinary class last year can only take an advanced food and nutrition and bakery class this year.
Each class costs $10 and can be registered through the Greene County Extension Office. Interested individuals can call them at 515-386-2138, email Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway at hardaway@iastate.edu or stop by their office in Jefferson to sign up.
