Olivia Shannon was the top female cross-country runner in recent seasons for the Greene County Rams. She graduated last May, so Coach Jeff Lamoureux will be looking for a new number one on the girls’ side.

Shannon is an All-State softball player and multi-time State track & field performer who also ran the 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) in cross-country. She talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the variety of courses the Rams see during a season, which include school grounds, golf courses, and even county or state parks. “The course makes a tremendous difference and the team definitely has courses we like more than others. Some are super hilly or there’s not a lot of shade, but I think it’s a part of the sport that makes it unique compared to others. I always enjoyed having new scenery at each meet that we went to.”

The University of Northern Iowa freshman will concentrate on academics in college. She’s majority in interior design with a minor in real estate.
