The Perry Football team finished up their summer camp last week as they continue prepare for their 2023 season. The camp lasted all of last week and there was even a youth football camp put on by the Bluejay varsity players and coaches. Head Coach Tyler Hovey said he likes what he saw from his guys this past week and hopes they can bring that momentum forward come the start of the season.
“I’m very impressed with our older guys and how fast they are grasping some of our concepts both offensively and defensively. They are really taking it upon themselves to kind of hit the ground running. We had a good group of guys working all summer and that has very much carried over into the week of camp. So I’m excited,” said Hovey.
The Bluejays have started regular practice this week. Practices have been beginning at 4 PM at the football stadium at Perry High School. The Bluejays will have their scrimmage against Woodward-Granger on Friday, August 18th at Perry High School at 7 PM. That will be one week before they kick off their season against Des Moines Hoover on Friday, August 25th. Kickoff will be at 7:30 at Perry High School.
