Two big pieces of the state bound Perry Soccer team from this past season have found the next step in their future endeavors. Alex Banuelos and Julian Guzman announced recently that they will be committing to the Simpson College Storm in Indianola for the 2023 season. Both Banuelos and Guzman were big parts of the Perry soccer team this past season. Banuelos was 2nd in goals scored for the Bluejays this past season as he had 17 total on the season. Guzman also contributed quite a bit in the goals department for Perry this past season as he had 14 of his own.

Alex Banuelos has been known to read the field very well in his time with the Bluejays. He will look to transfer that over to the college level as well as bring a physical presence to the back line at Simpson College. Throughout his time with the Perry Bluejays, Banuelos was on varsity for 3 seasons. He was a captain for one of those 3 years. He also won all conference and all state for the Bluejays.

Julian Guzman also had a stellar campaign with Perry as well. He was a 3 year Varsity Letter winner, as well as a 2x All Conference selection. This past season with the Bluejays marked his first appearance in the state tournament. Best of luck to both of these boys as they begin the next chapter in their soccer careers.
