Tomorrow is Stationary Store Day and one local business in Jefferson has a couple of free activities.

Kristin Lang is the owner of Warm Wishes and says Stationery Store Day was created last year as a way to celebrate the independent paper store. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio in honor of that, she is having a StoryTime at 10am on Saturday with Darcy Hathaway presenting the book, “The Jolly Postman Or Other People’s Letters” which Lang says everyone is invited to.

“This is a really fun book. It’s an interactive book where you’re actually opening envelopes and pulling out letters that fictional characters are writing to one another. So it’s fun to listen to, but it’s also really fun to look at and interact with too.”

Then from 10:30am-noon will be letter writing activities with the Jefferson Public Library. Lang says participants can decorate paper with markers and stamps, line paper with fancier paper, or write letters to other people. She talks about why she continues to partner with the local library to host these free activities.

“The (Jefferson) public library has been wonderful to work with. (Youth Services Librarian) Bailey (Mount) and (Library Director) Jane (Millard) have been amazing community partners with the store. I think that at the end of the day our values are really similar, you know we want people to be connecting, to be reading, to be engaged citizens in the community.”

Lang adds special cookies will also be given away on Saturday with The Centennial custom-making stationary cookies. This is also the one-year anniversary of Warm Wishes.
