The City of Perry is making drastic improvements to their wastewater treatment plant, and the project has run into a problem.

Five years ago, the Perry City Council approved a multi-million dollar reconstruction project to get the wastewater treatment plant, which was built in the 1960s, in compliance with the new Iowa Department of Natural Resources standards. City Administrator Sven Peterson says Bolten and Menk are currently having to work around supply chain issues.

As everything else (the project) has run into some hiccups with the supply chain and getting some of the equipment here to be able to install. But they’re kind of working around that as they can. So the current plan is to have the new plant operational by the end of this year and then have the project fully completed by June of next year, 2024.”

Peterson says the Perry wastewater facility last saw significant capital improvements in the early 1990s.
