With the 2023 football season vastly approaching for the West Central Valley Wildcats and with camps starting next week, I am going to give a quick recap of the Wildcat’s 2022 season on the gridiron. They opened their season last year on August 26th against the North Mahaska Warhawks. They won that game to start their season off 1-0. The home opener didn’t go exactly as planned for West Central Valley however as they got bested by the Red Oak Tigers 42-0. Their record was pushed to 1-1 when they hosted Eagle Grove at home in Week 3. West Central Valley edged out a win in that matchup winning 13-12. They would follow up that with a narrow loss to the ACGC Chargers in Week 4 on the road at ACGC High School 28-26. That dropped the Wildcats record to 2-2 on the season. West Central Valley then got shut out in Week 5 as they fell to the Van Meter Bulldogs 48-0. The Wildcats would drop below .500 for the first time on the season as they went into Week 6 with a 2-3 record overall.
The Wildcats then would rattle off three straight wins from Week 6-Week 8 against Panorama, Nodaway Valley, and Interstate 35. The win against the Panorama Panthers happened on homecoming as they won that one 49-14. They followed that up with a senior night shutout against Nodaway Valley as they won that game 58-0. West Central Valley eventually would fall to Woodward-Granger in the Class 1A-First Round district playoff bracket, 34-3.
The Wildcats will begin their 2023 campaign on August 25th as they take on their conference rival, the Panorama Panthers.
