Greene County finished the 2023 high school softball season with a 22-7 record and second place Heart of Iowa Activities Conference at 12-2. In addition, Coach Tom Kennedy’s team set some Greene County softball program records.

Senior pitcher Emma Hoyle established new records for strikeouts in a season at 259 and in a career with 693. Hoyle tied 2015 graduate Hannah Onken for the most home runs in a single season at eight. In 2024, Hoyle set the single game program record for most strikeouts with 24 in an extra innings victory vs. Perry.

Senior centerfielder Olivia Shannon now owns single season and career stolen base records for the Greene County program. Shannon went 42 of 44 in stolen base attempts in 2023 and she has 77 career steals in 81 attempts for a 95% success rate.

Last week, the Iowa Girls Coaches Association named both to Class 3A All-State teams. Hoyle was named to the first team and Shannon to the second.
