Big things are happening in Guthrie Center with the 15th Annual River Ruckus going on.

With so many people in town for the music and festivities, there are several ways that something could go wrong, and someone could become injured. Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright advises individuals to always be aware of their surroundings while walking, and to watch out for vehicles and other pedestrians. He adds that individuals should also watch their alcohol intake, especially with the heat, as it can become very easy to get dehydrated, or become too rowdy while enjoying the festivities.

Arganbright mentions that his department is fairly lenient with those at the campgrounds and fairgrounds enjoying the festivities, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio his department’s view on enjoying everything fun over the weekend.

“We just want people to have a good time at River Ruckus. We just don’t want anyone to get hurt or do something that’s illegal. So my department, the sheriff’s department, and the State Patrol will be down there every day and every night through Saturday night.”

While Arganbright and the Guthrie County Deputies want everyone to have fun, if someone is caught driving under the influence that’s a different story. With 25 officers and deputies on duty day and night, anyone caught driving drunk or being too belligerent at the fairgrounds will be arrested, and can spend some time in the new facilities of the Guthrie County Jail, where there is plenty of room.
