A major crash on Interstate-80 Wednesday morning caused delays for some motorists.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at 4:48am on the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in proximity to mile marker 93 near Stuart when multiple semi trucks were involved in the crash. A total of four vehicles were involved, after one driver lost control and hit the second, who left the roadway, and upon reentering rolled and struck two other semis. There were four injured individuals reported, two were transported to Adair County Health Systems in Greenfield, and two were transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Later on a secondary crash occurred at approximately the 94 mile marker. Responding agencies included the Iowa State Patrol, Stuart Police and Fire Departments, Stuart Rescue, and the Menlo and Dexter Fire Departments. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
