This is Day 2 of my overlook of key players that helped this years West Central Valley softball team finish their year 12-8 in the West Central Valley standings and 20-12 overall. The two players that I will be looking at today are Marissa Hagen and Meleah Speichinger. Starting with Marissa Hagen, she was one of the 5 graduating seniors on this years softball team. She was a standout doing a little bit of everything for West Central Valley. She finished the  year batting .216 on the season. She also had a .341 on base percentage. Along with that on base percentage she was able to walk 15 times on the year. In terms of hitting,  Hagen had 16 total hits, with 14 singles and 2 doubles. Marissa also drove in 1o runs. She wasn’t just a force with the bat, but she also was great on the mound for West Central Valley all year. She pitched 166.2 innings with an ERA of 2.65. She also had 114 strikeouts total as she was a force to be reckon with on the mound against mostly everyone she faced.

Meleah Speichinger was a freshman standout for the Wildcats this season. She had strong numbers as a freshman as she finished the year with a .302 batting average. She also had a pretty high on base percentage at .343. Offensively she had a total of 29 hits, including 27 singles and 13 RBIs. Similarly to Marissa Hagen, she also did some pitching on the mound for the Wildcats as she posted a 4.67 ERA in only 9 innings pitched for West Central Valley. Speichinger did this all only as a freshman, as the Wildcats have bright young star on their hands for 3 more years. Stay tuned tommorow as I continue my player outlook on K107.9 FM and raccoonvalleyradio.com
