The Perry Bluejays baseball team finished their season on July 7th when they fell to the Saydel Eagles in the Class 3A-7 bracket 6-1. Perry finished the season 6-8 in the Heart of Iowa conference and 10-5 overall. Head coach Michael Craig said taking what the defense gave the team was the biggest point of emphasis when it came to improving before the season.
“I continued to harp on the guys just not to worry about how hard they hit the ball and to just put it in play and see what happens, and try to take the ball wherever the pitchers gives it to you. Late in the season I think we saw that come into play as well,” said Craig.
Craig’s advice certainly did wonders for the Bluejays as there hit total increased from 2022 by 67 hits from 102 in 2022 to 169 this past season in 2023. That is definitely something Perry can build upon going into the future in upcoming seasons.
