A Grand Junction man was found guilty of attempted murder in Greene County District Court on Monday.
According to court documents, a jury found 31-year-old Adam Coy guilty on three counts including a Class B Felony for attempted murder, a Class C Felony for willful injury resulting in serious injury, and a serious misdemeanor for domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury.
The conviction stemmed from an incident on February 4th. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after Grand Junction Rescue responded to a call that someone fell and hit their head against a door at 9:52pm at 1002 Main Street East in Grand Junction. The sheriff’s office was advised of a possible gunshot wound. During the investigation, the sheriff’s office determined that Coy intentionally discharged a firearm in the direction of the victim with the intent of killing her. The bullet struck the back of her head, but she survived.
A sentence hearing is scheduled for September. The jury trial lasted five days. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
