Jesse Miller, the 2023 Greene County High School graduate, played in Saturday’s Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game at tight end for the South squad vs. the North. The 51st Shrine Bowl was held in the air-conditioned comfort of the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
Miller talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about attending the U. of South Dakota in Vermillion and being a member of the football team. He’s taken one college class on campus and has been involved in summer workouts and weight lifting. “Things are really going well. I really like my teammates and get along well with them. Weight lifting-wise it’s been a little slow, it’s a lot of learning. I guess you could say that for the football field, too, it’s a lot of learning and adapting. Obviously, it’s a different program than what high school is.”
He added it’s been a lot more fun so far, largely due to the fact he can concentrate on being a tight end, not playing defense or special teams.
The Coyotes have a difficult season opener when they travel to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers of the Southeastern Conference on Thursday, Aug. 31.
