With the 2023 Greene County now in the books, organizers have had a chance to reflect as well as make the announcement of this year’s 4-H Hall of Fame inductee.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says 117 4-H and FFA’ers showed 455 livestock entries and there were 76 4-H’ers that had a total of 332 static exhibits, which Hardaway points out is almost 100 exhibits more than last year. She adds there were also 88 livestock entries for Clover Kids.

Hardaway also announced the 4-H Hall of Fame inductee with Billie Jo Hoskins. She says Hoskins has been a long time 4-H volunteer and has served on several boards and committees. Hardaway notes that she supported her children who were in 4-H and now has grandchildren who are Clover Kids. Hardaway believes Hoskins is certainly deserving of the honor.

“She believes in 4-H and what it offers and the opportunities that are there for kids. We are super excited and super honored, and she will be recognized not only at county fair, where we recognized her at the beef show (this past Saturday) but also at the Iowa State Fair.”

Hardaway is also excited to see all of the state fair qualifiers with static exhibits and the 4-H’ers that will show their livestock at the state fair next month.
