The Perry Public Library decorated the outside of the library to spread community cheer on Friday.

The event, “Family Tie-Dye Sidewalk Chalk Fun,” allowed all ages to take chalk and draw positive messages, words of affirmation and colorful pictures along the sidewalks of the library. Youth Services Librarian Laura Pieper was thrilled with the amount of people who participated.

“It’s great. We’ve had a bunch of families come out, probably about 25 or so people, young and old, and they’re just drawing like crazy. We’ve had some teens do some amazing abstract artwork and some dragons and some just amazing stuff. We’ve had patrons come by and say that it’s just a great thing to see outside here today at the library.”

The Perry Public Library supplied the chalk for this event.
