There will be an informative presentation on the 90th anniversary of the Barrow Gang capture in Dallas County this weekend.
Rod Stanley will retell the story of Bonnie and Clyde and the capture of the Barrow Gang at the Dexter Museum from 1 to 3pm tomorrow. Stanley says he will tell the story of how the gang traveled from Platte City, Missouri to find refuge at the Dexfield Amusement Park in Dexter. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this program is not to glorify the outlaws, but to spread valuable historical information.
“It’s an important thing in Dexter’s history. And it’s the 90th anniversary of July 24th. It’s actually kind of interesting because of that shootout. The shootout between the local posse and the barrels happened on a Monday morning, July 24th. And what this year, the 24th is on a Monday. So it’s actually the stars that have kind of aligned again.”
Stanley says the program will start at 1:30pm and last 45 minutes. Admission is free for everyone and refreshments will be available.
