All Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball teams have completed their 2023 seasons after conference champion Saydel (Des Moines) went 0-2 at the Class 3A State Tournament earlier this week. Greene County was 22-7 overall and 12-2 in the conference, good for a second place finish. The HOIAC finish and the 22 wins were the most since 2015 when that Greene County team placed third in the 3A State Tournament.

Head coach Tom Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio, “We had a really good season this year and our seniors all had really good seasons, so it was nice to see them go out on a high on the whole season. I’m sure they were all disappointed on how it ended, but the defeat (12-2 to Saydel in the 3A Region 3 final) didn’t define our season, so they can be proud of themselves.”

The Rams had five seniors, all starters, including Emma Hoyle, Emma Stream, Olivia Shannon, Alexa Peters, and Paige Teeples.
