The Adair – Casey (AC) and Guthrie Center (GC) School Boards met in a joint session Wednesday night.

The AC Board held a public hearing before the meeting to discuss the junior high bleacher project, then both Boards called the meeting to order. The AC Board approved the contract recommendation for Julie Parker as the preschool teacher, while the GC Board approved the resignation of Denice Crawley in food service and transportation, and contract recommendations Chrisina Wilson as the secretary for the high school building, Ron Lower and Bill Messinger as part-time industrial technology teachers, Sarah McKibbin as elementary kitchen and preschool 1-on-1 associate, and Kayla Froehle as a preschool associate.

They then discussed Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) 2024 legislative priorities, board policy updates for general and board member social media engagement and 2023 legislative updates, and the classified staff handbook. The Boards also discussed upcoming dates including the August regular meeting, and the new teacher meet and greet, both to be held August 16th. They then approved for both Boards; IASB legislative priorities, 2023-24 student/parent handbooks, 28E agreements between both districts and new regular meeting time and location, which will be the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm, and will alternate between the high school in Guthrie Center and the elementary/junior high building in the AC district. The AC Board approved the bleacher project, and awarded the bid to Larsen Construction and the sale of obsolete equipment, while the GC Board approved FFA program activities and the Washington DC Senior Trip.
