One community in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area has received a grant from the State Historical Society of Iowa.

The Greenfield Historic Preservation Commission was awarded $3,854 to hire a historic preservation consultant for a current project. After some research, the consultant will prepare a nomination to register the Tastee-Freez/Tiger Drive-In in Greenfield to the National Register of Historic Places.

The State Historical Society of Iowa awarded grants to 26 different projects in 24 communities across the state, totaling roughly $600,000. These funds come from the State Historical Society’s Country School Grant Program and the Historical Resource Development Program, which are both funded through the Resource Enhancement Protection Program (REAP).
