It’s now time to look at Part 2 of the West Central Valley Wildcats 2023 baseball season in what was a historic season for the Wildcats as they had their first winning season in 5 years.

West Central Valley came into their June 10th matchup with the Colo-Nesco Royals with a 9-5 record. They defeated the Royals in the Colo-Nesco tournament that weekend, 17-8 to move their record to 10-5. They later lost their next matchup in the tournament to the Pleasantville Trojans, 8-6. This was the third time the Wildcats had fallen to the Trojans on the season. They then traveled to conference foe Panorama where they got the best of the Panthers again, winning 5-2. This moved West Central Valley’s record to 11-6 on the season. The Wildcats then lost 3 of their next 4 games against Ogden, Creston, and Woodward-Granger. They did pick up a win against Nodaway Valley. The Wildcat’s record sat at 12-9 going into their matchup with Glidden-Ralston. They were all over the other Wildcats from Glidden-Ralston in that one, winning 14-1.

The Wildcats then split the series against Des Moines Christian and then picked up three straight wins against Perry, Madrid, and ACGC. That brought their record to 17-10 going into their matchup with the Southeast Warren Warhawks where they fell 4-3. West Central Valley then knocked off the Earlham Cardinals in their regular season finale. That of course is when they began their play in the district tournament. They defeated the Interstate 35 Roadrunners in the 2A-6 Quarterfinal 13-3. That is when they fell to the Van Meter Bulldogs in the semifinals 19-1, ending their season. For the Wildcats, it was one of the best years they have had in a long time and will look to carry this momentum forward into next year.
