Recent Greene County High School graduate Jesse Miller normally has a busy schedule and this week may be a bit  more hectic than normal. The U. of South Dakota football recruit has been on the campus in Vermillion taking a class since mid-June as well as working out with the football team.

Miller will represent the Greene County Rams one last time this Saturday at the Annual Shrine Bowl High School All-Star Football Game inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls at 4 p.m. Shrine Bowl check-in for players was on July 16, but Miller won’t be arriving on the U. of Northern Iowa campus until Thursday evening. Why? He told Raccoon Valley Radio the class he’s taking won’t be done until 3 p.m. Thursday, so the 2023 Greene County High School Valedictorian will first complete his academic responsibility, then turn his attention to football. The 6′ 6″, 225 lbs. tight end for the South squad in the battle of North vs. South won’t have a lot of time to get familiar with the game plan, coaching staff, and teammates, but school comes first. He added the South coaches were understanding when told why he would be reporting late to Shrine Bowl practice.

When asked if there would be any downtime between the Shrine Bowl and the start of official practice at USD, Miller said he’d have a few days, but that was it because the Coyotes first game has been moved up to Thursday, August 31 vs. the U. of Missouri in Columbia.
