The baseball season ended for the West Central Valley Wildcats one week ago last Saturday against the Van Meter Bulldogs as they fell 19-1. It was one of the most successful seasons for the Wildcats in a long time. West Central Valley had not had a winning season in 5+ years in the West Central Conference and that all changed this year as they finished the season 19-12 on the season and 11-8 in conference play.
The season started for the Wildcats on May 19th when they took on Colfax-Mingo where they won that game 2-0. They then took on conference rival Panorama, jumping all over them and winning that one 18-0. The Wildcats then traveled to Ogden, another conference rival, on May 23rd, where the won 2-1. The Wildcats started off the season 3-0.
West Central Valley then went on to win 3 of their next 4, pushing their record up to 6-1. Those wins came against Interstate 35 and Southwest Valley. They then dropped two straight to Pleasantville to push their record to 6-3. They then followed that two game losing streak up with 3 straight wins against Woodward-Granger, Madrid, and ACGC. After that they dropped 2 to the Van Meter Bulldogs, the team they fell to in the regional semifinals. That brought their record to 9-5 on June 10th.
That is Part 1 of their 2023 season. I will talk Part 2 of their historic season coming up on racoonvalleyradio.com.
