The softball team for the Greene County Rams did a number of things well during their recently completed 22-7 season that saw them finish second in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and advance to the Class 3A Region 3 final. Stealing bases was an area the Rams excelled in as Coach Tom Kennedy’s team was successful on 127 of 133 attempts, for a 95.48% success rate.

Senior Olivia Shannon led the way with 42 steals in 44 attempts, among the best in all of Iowa High School softball. Other leaders in steals and attempts for the Rams this season are as follows: Payton Kokenge 22 of 22, Addison Gannon 14 of 14, Alexa Peters 14 of 16, Becca Anderson 13 of 13,  Chanlyn Cunningham 12 of 14, and Kaycee Pittman six of six. Shannon was 77 for 81 in stolen bases for her career, and both the single season and career steals are Greene County program records Shannon now holds.
