A new business will soon open in Jefferson and the owners recently received a grant to help offset some of their expenses.

Dennis and Terry Murphy are the owners of Murphy Farm Meats, located at 210 West Washington Street. They were awarded a $5,000 grant through the Jefferson Wants You Incentive Funds. The new business will offer fresh meat cuts for retail and have custom butchering in the back of the building. The Murphys raise their own beef which they will butcher and they plan to sell pork, lamb and goat in the future. The Jefferson City Council sold the Murphys the once vacant lot for $25,000 in January of 2022. The business will be open soon.

The Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund provides one-time start-up costs up to $5,000, which is led by the Jefferson Matters Economic Vitality Team that reviews applications and conducts the interviews. They also partner with the Small Business Development Center that offers free consultation. A copy of the application can be found by clicking the link below.
