The 2023 Dallas County Fair ended after five days on Sunday.

This year’s fair had plenty of fun activities to enjoy including the many 4-H/FFA shows, demo derby, figure eight race, concerts and mutton busting plus a rodeo. Something unique the fair did this year compared to others was crowning the queen later in the week. The crowning of the queen took place on Friday and Celia Kreifels, a graduate from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, ended up being crowned the 2023 Dallas County Fair Queen. The runner-up was Brinna Orr from Woodward-Granger High School. Kreifels talked about what it will mean to represent Dallas County in the Iowa State Fair Queen contest in August.

I’m super excited to represent Dallas County at the state fair and to finish out the Dallas County Fair and see everyone and then to represent us in a positive light throughout the year.”

The Bill Riley Talent Show was one of the last activities of the fair and it showed off a lot of the local talent. The winner of the sprout division was Harlow Schultz for her dance routine and a duet between Brady Meyers and Maddy Davis won the senior division. Bill Riley Talent Show Judge Amy Short discussed the difficulty in picking a winner to move on to compete in the Iowa State Fair.

“There was really good competition. Some of these, especially the sprouts, you can already tell how dedicated they are, how much effort they put into how much they practice. Like they were really, really, really good. It was really hard to pick a winner.”

The Dallas County Fair went on from July 12-16th and there are more results and pictures below.
