The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council approved a building permit for Tractor Supply at 1902 East State Street and increased garbage rates for residential properties to $13 per month until July 1, 2026, as the contracted company for garbage services had increased their fees. They then discussed storage containers being used on residential properties as requested by Compliance Officer Wes Clark, in which City Clerk Kris Arrasmith shared ordinances from other cities for the Council to review. It was decided that Arrasmith would draft an ordinance, and that she and Clark would put together a permit for those wishing to have a storage container on their property.

The Council then approved Nick Andersen as a nuisance mowing contractor, and Arrasmith shared the Streets Department Report for Superintendent Darrin Sloss as he was unavailable, including two quotes for the electricity and lighting of Mitchell Park. She then gave a City Hall report, stating that the Highway 44 water main project is almost finished, and that the new city website should be up and running soon.
