New information has been released about the early Wednesday morning storm in Jefferson.
Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan tells Raccoon Valley Radio power has been restored to the west side of town and the liftstations that were left without power have also been restored. Some of the flooding is receding and there are about ten tree limbs in the roadway, with the most serious issue in the 600 block of South Vine Street where a tree limb is blocking a majority of the road. Morlan adds the crew will clean that up once the rain stops.
During the first round of rainfall, Morlan says about four inches fell. He recommends residents to take tree storm debris to the yard waste dump site at Daubendiek Park or place it at curbside and city crews will get to it when they can.
According to Greene County ISU Extension, heavy rainfall has impacted some activities at the Greene County Fair. 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the ultrasound contest has been canceled for today and all animal weigh-ins are postponed until 10am. This includes beef pen of three, sheep and goat, horse, herd builder and lead beef.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning and a thunderstorm watch for Greene County until 11am today. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
