A round of storms made its way through the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area and triggered our Severe Weather Action Team coverage.

At 6:56am a severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service for Adair County and the southwestern portion of Guthrie County. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf said that the first storm was mostly heavy rains with some strong winds, and at the time of the issuance of the severe thunderstorm warning. Then during the second storm Kempf said there was more heavy rain, and included stronger winds. Kempf at that time warned anyone at the Adair County Fair Grounds that they should seek shelter. At the same time, Deputy Coordinator Jeremy Cooper was in Greenfield at the Adair County Fair as events are set to start today, mentioning that there were just some light rains at that moment.

Cooper confirmed the strong winds from the Adair County Fairgrounds, saying they were seeing sustained winds of 40mph, and gusts of 50-55mph, along with light rain.

There were four members of the Raccoon Valley Radio staff, along with Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management and Weatherology that participated in Severe Weather Action Team coverage until the warning expired at 7:45am. Raccoon Valley Radio provides live coverage anytime there is a thunderstorm or tornado warning in Guthrie, Greene and Dallas Counties.
