It’s Greene County at Saydel (Des Moines) tonight with a trip to the State softball tournament at stake. The Rams and Eagles have already met twice in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with the Rams winning in Des Moines 5-1 and the Eagles getting a 3-0 win in Jefferson. This is the Class 3A Region 3 final with the winner playing next week at Rogers Park north of Ft. Dodge with the team coming up short tonight having its season end.

Both teams are 22-6 and they went one-two in the conference with the Eagles at 13-1 and the Rams 12-2. Dakota Lake leads all Class 3A pitchers in the number of strikeouts this season with 326 and Greene County’s Emma Hoyle is second at 291. Hoyle is coming off a no-hit, 16 strikeout performance vs. Southeast Valley (Gowrie) in the semifinal in Saturday night’s 4-0 Greene County victory. The Jaguars had just one base runner in that game with the 19th batter Hoyle faced reaching first when she was hit by a pitch.
