The West Central Valley baseball team’s season ended on Saturday night against the Van Meter Bulldogs with a disappointing 19-1 loss in the Class 2A-6 Semifinal. The Bulldogs big 16 run 2nd inning was the difference as the Bulldogs dominated from the opening pitch leading 19-0 through just 3 innings of play. The loss will put the Wildcats at 19-13 on the season and put a halt on what’s been a very impressive season. Van Meter will advance to the Class 2A-6 Final where they will be playing for state against Pella Christian on Tuesday.

The West Central Valley softball team lost to Van Meter on Friday night, 9-0, in the Class 2A Region 3 Semifinal. The loss will put an end to the Wildcats season. The Van Meter Bulldogs got off to a hot start early on building a 7-0 lead after the first two innings. They later scored 2 more runs in the 4th giving them a 9-0 lead. Van Meter never looked back after that and completed the shutout. The win for Van Meter will advance them to the Class 2A Region 3 Final. If they win they will head to state. For West Central Valley, it was a great season, but they will unfortunately fall short of making it to state after the loss.
