The Greene County High School baseball season ended on Friday night with a 6-1 loss to second ranked North Polk in Alleman in a Class 3A Substate 2 quarterfinal in a game heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coach Kyle Stalder’s team finished with a 3-20 record while the Comets advanced to the next round at 25-5.
Coach Stalder visited with Raccoon Valley Radio following the game. He was proud of the effort of his team for going the distance with one of 3A’s best. Sophomore Noah Hinote pitched the first 5-1/3 innings, allowing four hits to go with three walks and three batters hit with pitches. Hinote had one strikeout and only four NP runs were earned. Sophomore Camden Jacobs pitched the last 2/3 of an inning, allowing one hit. All five NP hits were singles. Greene County was charged with four errors while the Comets played errorless baseball.
Sophomores could be the future in 2024 with three graduated seniors on this team and no juniors on the squad, next seasons juniors could step to the forefront.
