The West Central Valley softball team lost to Van Meter on Friday night, 9-0, in the Class 2A Region 3 Semifinal. The loss will put an end to the Wildcats season. The Van Meter Bulldogs got off to a hot start early on building a 7-0 lead after the first two innings. They later scored 2 more runs in the 4th giving them a 9-0 lead. Van Meter never looked back after that and completed the shutout. The win for Van Meter will advance them to the Class 2A Region 3 Final. If they win they will head to state. For West Central Valley, it was a great season, but they will unfortunately fall short of making it to state after the loss.

The baseball team defeated the Interstate 35 Roadrunners 13-3 in the Class 2A-6 Quarterfinal on Wednesday night. Senior Braiden Beane had a stellar night for the Wildcats with 3 hits on the night to go along with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Kaedon Lindsay also put up 3 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. The win advances the Wildcats in tournament play. They will take on the Van Meter Bulldogs in the Class 2A-6 Semifinal tonight. First pitch of that game will be at 7 PM at Van Meter High School.
