Dallas Center-Grimes’ Starting Pitcher Keaton Fenn pitched lights out in a win over Des Moines East on Friday.
The number one seeded Mustangs needed a win to move on in the substate bracket, but would have to take down the six seeded Scarlets from Des Moines East. Fenn got the start on the mound and went six innings strong allowing four hits and struck out 11 batters. It took awhile for the bats to get going for the Mustangs as they fell down 1 to 0 through three innings. The bottom of the fourth innings was when everything started to click offensively for the Mustangs as they score 3 runs on two hits. Dallas Center-Grimes would close the game scoring two in the fifth and two in the sixth.
The final score was 7 to 1. Fenn was the winning pitcher. Dallas Center-Grimes baseball will now get a bye and they won’t play until 7pm on July 12th. They will take on either Indianola or Waukee Northwest for the right to go to the state tournament in Iowa City.
