Both West Central Valley baseball and softball teams picked up big wins in their first round tournament matchups Wednesday night. The baseball team defeated the Interstate 35 Roadrunners 13-3 in the Class 2A-6 Quarterfinal. Senior Braiden Beane had a stellar night for the Wildcats with 3 hits on the night to go along with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Kaedon Lindsay also put up 3 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. The win advances the Wildcats in tournament play. They will take on the Van Meter Bulldogs in the Class 2A-6 Semifinal on Saturday night. First pitch of that game will be at 7 PM at Van Meter High School.

West Central Valley softball also won their tournament matchup last night against the Panorama Panthers, 15-5, in the Class 2A-Region 3 bracket. Senior Kamryn Nourse had 3 hits on the night along with 4 doubles and 2 RBIs. Marissa Hagen had 6 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched with a 2.33 ERA on the night as well for West Central Valley. The senior standouts were definitely on display in both games for the baseball and softball teams on Wednesday night. Softball will also advance and take on the Van Meter Bulldogs, but on Friday night, in the Class 2A Region 3 semifinals. First pitch of that matchup is set for 7 PM on Friday night.
