It’s the start of the high school softball postseason the for the Greene County Rams. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team is 20-6 and ranked in the top 15 in Class 3A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Washington High of Cherokee is the quarterfinal opponent tonight at the City Diamond on East Lincolnway in Jefferson and the game will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Braves are 3-21 overall and they went 0-12 in the Lakes Conference while the Rams were second in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference at 12-2. After a 6-4 start to the season the Rams have won 14 of its last 16 games. Senior pitcher Emma Hoyle has 234 strikeouts this season and trails 2015 grad Marissa Promes by just seven K’s for the Greene County program single season strikeout record. Hoyle also trails Hannah Onken, another 2015 grad for the most home runs in a single season. Onken had eight homers in 39 games and Hoyle has seven round-trippers in 26 contests.
