Raccoon Valley Radio’s coverage of the Greene County Fair Queen candidates continues with another individual.
Taylor McDowell is going to be a junior at Greene County High School this fall and she is a 4-H’er with the Junction Food Producers, along with serving in FFA and the 4-H Young Leaders. McDowell showed goats and lambs at the county fair last year and won the rate of gain and senior showmanship with her goats. She also showed livestock at last year’s Iowa State Fair. McDowell is planning to show goats and lambs again this year at the county fair.
McDowell has been a 4-H’er since fourth grade and says she started in 4-H because it looked fun and she got to show livestock at an early age. She has also been in FFA since eighth grade and enjoys meeting new people across the state. McDowell talks about why she wants to be Greene County Fair Queen.
“I’m excited where this journey could take me. I want to be the girl my eight-year-old self looked up to.”
McDowell is competing against Elise Badger, Shai Woodley and Chanlyn Cunningham. The Greene County Fair Queen contest will be held on Wednesday, July 12th at 7pm in Clover Hall.
