Next week is the Greene County Fair and one of the first contests is who will be crowned this year’s fair queen.

Today we introduce Elise Badger, who is one of four girls vying for the crown. She will be a junior this fall at Greene County High School. She is involved in Greene County 4-H, FFA and is the Greene County Chapter president, as well as 4-H Young Leaders, Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association Board of Directors, is a high school football cheerleader and does competitive dance with the Rhythm Room Dance Studio.

Badger showed sheep and cattle last year at the county fair and was the grand champion market lamb and market steer. She also showed at the Iowa State Fair last year as well. This year, she will be showing sheep and cattle again at the county fair. Badger explains why she wants to be this year’s Greene County Fair Queen.

“The Greene County Fair has been a big part of my life since I was born. I just love the community of people at the fair and I love all the activities that we do. I  love showing at the fair, obviously that’s one of my favorite things to do. I’ve been lucky enough to represent Greene County at different things. So I think I would love to represent Greene County at the (Iowa) State Fair.”

Badger is running against Shai Woodley, Chanlyn Cunningham and Taylor McDowell. The Greene County Fair Queen contest is Wednesday, July 12th at 7pm at Clover Hall.
