BRAG 2022

This Saturday several bicyclists will be participating in an annual event in Greene County.

The 3rd Annual Bike Ride Around Greene County (BRAG) is close to 40 miles to different locations in eastern Greene County. Participants will start at the Welcome Center in Jefferson, head on East Lincoln Way and then north on Highway 144 through Grand Junction and Dana, then west through Paton. Bicyclists will head south on County Road P-33, then back west on 235th Street into Jefferson. The stops along the way include 30 Yard Line in Grand Junction, a water break in Dana, 209 Main Restaurant in Paton, Lakeside National Golf Course, and finish at Doc’s Stadium in Jefferson.

Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says this is a fun event that has a new date with it, plus, riders don’t have to finish the entire route.

“There’ll be a sag wagon to help anybody who needs some assistance. It’s a fun ride, you’re on hard surfaces the whole time, places where you can stop and enjoy a beverage, an adult beverage if you want as well. And usually they do prizes as well for those who complete the route. So it’s a minimal registration fee but you do get some cool swag and you get a t-shirt out of the deal.”

Online registrations are still being accepted, with a $45 fee. Check-ins on Saturday will be from 8-9am at the Welcome Center, with the bike ride to begin at 9am, rain or shine. Organizer Emily Dyer says they have close to 40 people signed up and the prizes include gift cards to Bike World in Des Moines. Click the link below to sign up.
