The regular season for the Greene County High School baseball team is over all that awaits is the Class 3A postseason. Coach Kyle Stalder’s Rams are 3-19, but a very young squad showed improvement in the last one-third of the campaign. Starting 1-1 in its first two games, an 11 game losing streak followed, but two victories and other close calls came after that. The last four losses saw the Rams either tied or ahead each time, plus their last victory was by an 11-2 final as opposed to their first two victories being by a single run at 4-3 and 7-6. Early in the season, giving up 10 or more runs happened with some regularity while those contests were far fewer as the season went on.

A big challenge lies ahead on July 7 for the Rams when they open 3A Substate baseball in Alleman vs. North Polk. The Comets won the Raccoon River Activities Conference title by three games and stand at 23-4 entering this week, while the Rams were last in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference at 1-13.

Greene County at North Polk will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. with coverage starting after 6:30 p.m. and first pitch set for 7 o’clock Friday night.
