New Opportunities Dallas County Development Center is spreading the word about their program that assists people with their water utility payments.

Outreach Coordinator Beth Morman says that their Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program provides direct payments to water vendors for people who are eligible. Morman states that households can receive payment assistance for their past-due charges, fees and taxes for drinking and wastewater services. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that if someone wants to apply they need to act quickly.

I would just encourage people not to wait until you guys have a disconnect. Notice if it’s past due by just one day. I would encourage those people to call our office right away because it does take some time to get those lines up. Um, get the lie WAP taken care of and the paperwork we have to do. So I don’t encourage people to get a hold of us right away and not wait until the last minute.”

Morman notes they only provide assistance to someone’s water utility bill twice a year and their fiscal year ends in September. Those interested must call or visit the New Opportunities Dallas County Development Center to apply.
