With just one regular season game remaining, the Greene County softball team and its players rank high among the 64 teams in Class 3A in a number of categories. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are ranked number 13 with a 19-6 record and finished second in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.

According to statistical website Bound Iowa, Senior pitcher Emma Hoyle leads all of 3A in WHIP (Walks plus Hits divided by Innings Pitched) at 0.58. She also sits in the top five among 3A pitchers in the number of wins (18), strikeouts (229), ERA (earned run average) .74, opponent batting average (.116), and innings pitched (136-2/3).

Bound Iowa also has senior catcher Emma Stream leading 3A with 230 putouts and senior centerfielder Olivia Shannon is second in the number of stolen bases with 37 (in 39 attempts).

The Rams host Humboldt on Monday, July 3 at 7 p.m. for one varsity game at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson to close the regular season. The 3A postseason begins on July 6 when Greene County hosts Washington High School of Cherokee at 7 p.m. All remaining Ram softball games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoon valley radio.com.
