Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity is looking for an individual in Greene County to help continue their efforts to improve homes in the community.
Executive Director Ron Christensen says the organization is wanting a project coordinator to help schedule groups of volunteers that are ready to make exterior home repairs through the Helping Hands program. Christensen points out the coordinator doesn’t need to worry about finding volunteers.
“I think we have, mainly from the churches, plenty of volunteers ready to go, wanting to do the work. What I really need is just somebody to step up and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll coordinate things and make sure that the volunteers know where to go and once they get there know what they need to do.”
Christensen says the coordinator’s main responsibilities would be to work with the area churches to schedule when volunteers are willing to work, mostly a few hours on Saturdays, when there’s a project to do. Anyone interested in learning more about this voluntary position can contact Christensen at Habitat’s main office in Boone, or with one of the Greene County representatives on the Heart of Iowa Habitat Board with Doug Carman or Amanda Bills.
