The high school baseball regular season for Greene County is over. Coach Kyle Stalder’s team lost on Wednesday night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson vs. Saydel (Des Moines) in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play by a 6-1 final. The Rams led 1-0 after one inning, but two runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh, all with two outs, won the game for Saydel, who improved to 17-14 overall and they end 11-3 in the conference. The Rams finished 1-13 in the conference and are 3-19 overall.  .

Caden Jacobs singled to start the first for the Rams and Brayden Roberts doubled him in. That 1–0 lead stood up until the sixth and starter Matthew Hovick was a tough luck losing pitcher. He went 6-2/3 innings and allowed all six runs on seven hit snd five strikeouts after blanking the Eagles the first 6-2/3 innings. Gavyn Winters relieved Hovick and he gave up one hit. The Rams had just three hits with Roberts collecting a single to go with the first inning two-bagger. Roberts, Hovick, and Dakota Mobley are the only seniors on the team and they played for the final time at Allensworth Field.

The Rams are a Class 3A program for the postseason and the Rams go to Alleman to face North Polk (Alleman) for the July 7 District tournament opener.
