The West Central Valley Wildcats eeked out a 2-1 victory Friday night at home against the Perry Bluejays. Perry led 1-0 through 3 innings. West Central Valley finally got on the board in the 4th to tie the game up at 1 a piece. It wasn’t until the 6th inning when they pulled ahead with the game winning run. Senior Gavin Hegstrom led the Perry Blue Jays in hits. He had a double and 2 hits on the night. The win improves the Wildcats to 15-10 on the season, while Perry falls to 6-14. The baseball team will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Madrid to take on the Tigers. First pitch of that game will be at 6 PM at Madrid High School.
The West Central Valley softball team is coming off their split against Des Moines Christian on Thursday as they lost Game 1 11-3 but won game 2 5-1. There tournament scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to weather. A make up date is to be announced. The softball team will also be back on the diamond on Monday traveling to Madrid. That first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.
